AG Ken Paxton’s Impeachment Trial is Underway

September 6, 2023

Yesterday, the impeachment trial of Attorney General Ken Paxton began in the Texas Senate. This is the first impeachment of a statewide elected official in over 100 years.

Even though all but one of the impeachment articles relate to events that occurred prior to the last election, only eight Texas Senators rejected the assertion that these are subject to the “prior-term doctrine,” which essentially says that elected officials cannot be removed for reasons that voters were fully aware of prior to the last election. Last year, AG Paxton was overwhelmingly re-elected by voters after a fierce primary.

Yesterday, Paxton’s attorney, Tony Buzbee addressed the Senate, “Cases are supposed to be decided only upon the evidence. But I do wonder. Are we really going to get a fair trial here? Have you already decided based on what is politically expedient or what is best for you personally? Is it even possible to get a fair hearing? Especially after this case has been tried in the press. Ken Paxton has been convicted in the press based on ignorance, innuendo, and outright lies.”

The following eight senators voted to uphold the prior-term doctrine, dismiss the articles of impeachment, and uphold the will of voters:

  • Sen. Tan Parker
  • Sen. Bob Hall
  • Sen. Charles Schwertner
  • Sen. Donna Campbell
  • Sen. Charles Perry
  • Sen. Lois Kolkhorst
  • Sen. Paul Bettencourt
  • Sen. Brandon Creighton

I would like to extend a special thanks to my own Senator, Tan Parker, for voting to protecting the will of Texans and standing up to the overwhelming pressure by Democrats and the RINO establishment to remove the most effective Attorney General in the country.

Last weekend, Steve Bannon interviewed a number of Texas conservative activists and donors about the insidious aspects of this impeachment, and how it directly connects to the same tactics that are being used across the country to cancel and even criminalize America First conservatives, including President Trump. Here’s a condensed version of that segment:

In case you weren’t aware, the impeachment of AG Paxton was a Democrat-led process. Ultimately, there were more Democrats in the House that voted for impeachment than Republicans.  Matt Rinaldi, the Chairman of the Republican Party of Texas pointed out, “If Republicans were driving this impeachment, you could point me to one Republican who was talking about impeachment of Ken Paxton earlier than 48 hours before the impeachment. Nobody can. It doesn’t exist.” And yet Democrats were calling for the impeachment of AG Paxton as early as January 7, 2021, when he dared to bring a lawsuit over the results of the 2020 Presidential election.

Over the past month, I’ve spoken to hundreds of voters across Wise and Denton Counties who are furious about this process, and who believe the impeachment is part of an overall strategy of the uniparty to continue to surrender our state and our country to the Marxist/globalist agenda.

Most voters are fully aware that their Representative in the Texas House, Lynn Stucky, voted with 61 Democrats and 59 RINOs to impeach Paxton, against the will of Texas voters. They are fully aware that their Representative voted against ending the practice of giving Democrats leadership positions in the Texas House in 2021, even actively defending his position to the district. They know that, once again this session, he refused to stand with seven conservatives that fought to change the House rules to ensure that Republicans run the Texas House.

And they are done with this peculiar brand of “conservative leadership.”

The timeline of the trial is uncertain. Best guesses are that it will last 2-3 weeks and could result in Paxton’s removal from office and barring him from ever holding office in Texas, again.

I encourage you to watch the War Room special on Paxton’s impeachment and stay informed.
